Can I still get enough calcium on a lactose-free diet?

Many people asked me this question when discussing going diary free to control lactose intolerance. Here's my experience and thoughts.

Yes, it is possible to get enough calcium on a lactose-free diet.

There are many non-dairy sources of calcium, such as leafy greens such as kale, bok choy, and broccoli, almonds, soy products, fortified orange juice and tofu, and fortified dairy alternatives like almond milk, soy milk, and rice milk.

Additionally, calcium supplements are available for those who may have difficulty meeting their calcium needs through diet alone.

So don't worry about missing out on calcium when going on a lactose free diet. You have plenty of other options.
